Mayas Fantasy Dolls

My name is Amparo, married and a mother of 2 boys. I’ve lived in sunny Miami (fl) Usa for more than 20 years, I’ve been in the arts since I was born and started to sculpt fantasy dolls and paint since a little girl, from then I’never stopped and thanks to GOD I have talent being a self taught artist. I always find inspiration on the babies. My work place is in my studio in our farm in Miami ,this is a great place to work, with the nature out of the window. I use diferent kinds of professional doll sculptor clay to make the babies. I use soft english mohair to imitate fine baby hair and I use special paint to enhance their tiny wrinkles and creases for realistic features, starting from detailed photographs and a lump of clay,sculpting a life size or miniature baby it take many, many hours of patience and concentration to form a realistic baby and finish with fine details including wrinkles and finger nails. I am privileged to have learned the art of doll making from GOD through out all my life. Years later, when I had some bits of left over clay from a larger doll, I formed the bit of clay into a miniature baby, when I held the tiny baby in my hand the feeling of protectiveness and fascination took over me, and I loved it instantly. The first miniature baby I made was curled in a fetal position for the baby shower of my grand daughter “Maya”. My dolls are graceful, delicate and fine that is the way I like to sculpt !.I hope you like and enjoy my art and hope in the future to expand into more facial expressions and positions. I am also having limited and large editions of resin, porcelan copies made so that more collectors can enjoy the babies and the babies can become available in all prices ranges.
